For the first real update on this blog I believe it's worthwhile to detail my slow, agonizing return to a game that I love(d) very much: League of Legends. I stopped playing sometime in 2014 and have had only the occasional game, maybe once every six months, since then. This week, I decided to make a full return and learn the game again to maybe, just maybe, make it out of Bronze.
But I suck.
After playing a few AI matches to get reacquainted with the game itself, I decided to skip on over to ARAM to play with real people, who were surprisingly less toxic than I remember. I was only made fun of a few times. As the above image shows you, defeat was on the menu. It's likely to be on the menu for a while, but that's okay!
While hashing out the direction I want to take this blog, updates on my League of Legends status will be one of the frequent things I update as I grind my way back to even being passable at Normal games. That being said, in terms of gaming it won't be the only thing I focus on here. With a newly installed copy of Dark Souls on my PC (with a few mod tweaks to enhance it's performance), it will be one of the many games that I tackle to attempt completion. The whole point of this blog is, after all, to reinvigorate myself. Taking on the games I once loved and never completed is a big point of that and the journey through this will also incorporate some videos of what are bound to be a ton of failures. League of Legends and Dark Souls will end up being the first in a series that will likely be titled "Raiden Sucks at Gaming," so stay tuned for failures.
Gaming aside, this week has brought about new motivations. In addition to the desire to return to old favorite games I've been instilled with the drive to make my own game. Or at least learn more about the ins and outs of game design. Part of this comes from a desire to be creative, yet I lack talent in most creative areas. Picking up new skills is a part of leveling up, so maybe I can get to the point of making something interesting, if only to motivate anyone who reads this.
With that being said I'm going to go get my rear handed to me by video games, and I'm going to enjoy it.
